So this is sort of an anticlimactic post! My pantry remodel is almost finished, and I will have a lot to say about it (especially about fixing up the original door hardware-- that was really interesting!). Rest assured, it looks awesome! And is so much more practical already. I am in love with it. And for under $40? Not bad at all!
I also haven't forgotten about my bathroom makeover! It's nearly done, too, but I need to pick up some more paint. A day or two of work in there, and it should be a completely new room! It already looks a thousand times better, with most of the walls painted. It's my favorite bathroom in the house (is it normal to have a favorite bathroom...?).
In the meantime, I would like to blog about something people say to me all the time. The exact words vary, but it goes something like this: "How do you get all this done with two small children underfoot?" hahaha! The children? They are not the problem. Sure, they have leaned on freshly-painted walls before, but to them, it's normal for mommy to be working on the house. It's what they've known for most of their short lives. They know to watch out for wet paint and brushes, and they steer clear of wherever I'm working. Really, they are awesome!
No, they are not the problem. THIS is the problem!
His name is Charlie. He is cute, outgoing, great with kids, and has nice, soft fur. He also sleeps almost all day. Except for when I'm working on a project, of course!!! He tangles himself around my legs when I'm trying to work, and has caused many near-disasters. I still love him, though, even if he is a pain in the butt.
Anyway... the moral of the story is: No excuses! I used to be afraid of painting while the kids were awake, for fear that they'd touch it. But really, it only took a few accidents (bumping wet paint) before they realized that my warnings were legit: stay away from that wall! A little training, and some strategic planning (save the high-traffic areas for when they're asleep!), and doing home improvement projects with kids around is really not a big deal.
Cats, on the other hand... well, they're cats. Just deal. haha!
